Broken Beach History
No one thinks that Broken Beach (Pasih Uug) has become an icon of tourism in Nusa Penida in particular, and in Bali in general. In fact, Pasih Uug is now a prime tourist destination for foreign tourists around the world. For foreign tourists, Broken Beach is one of the most unique works of natural art. As Broken Beach became famous the stories, myths and the fact that Broken Beach was formed appeared on the surface. Many think that the story of the formation of Broken Beach is just a myth. However, for local people who are around the Pasih uug location, they believe that the story of the formation of Pasih Uug is a fact. Even for them there is a witness of his life.
The story of Broken Beach (Pasih Uug) began when the people here found a cow, and nobody knew who owned the cow, then all the people agreed to catch and slaughter the Cattle to cook together. Without any foreboding and suspicious signs, the slaughter and cooking process went smoothly. After they cooked and ate, there came a small child who was looking for lost farm animals. The little boy asks about his loss. However, the people did not claim to have bought the child's cow. To find the truth, the child held a contest by sticking a stick on the ground. The child requested that residents revoke the stick. If anyone is able to revoke this stick, then it's true that you don't take and buy my livestock. The residents also arrogantly tried to revoke the stick, however, none of the residents were able to revoke it.
After feeling confident that the citizen had lied, the child pulled out the stick and immediately an earthquake caused the land to collapse instantly. No one resident there survived. However, there were some residents who were assigned to provide food to the people who were still in the location and got their village and house already in the sea. These survivors are considered as living witnesses and tell the story from generation to generation to their descendants. In addition, according to the information conveyed by divers who take Diving tourists in Broken Beach found some objects such as, "Lesung" which is a place to pound corn. A place to cook rice made from clay, and a place to spread the spices made from stone. This finding makes some people believe that the story of the formation of Pasih Uug (Broken Beach) is true.
